ride the conversation waves 
answer when asked
nod politely
laugh when implied
shipwrecked on a sea 
of joke timing tides

fish from the memory banks
some amusing anecdote
to net attention
or drown
under the surface
of an impolite 
unrehearsed diatribe
that falls flat
ellicits no approval
gains no purchase

i’ve been caught,
hook, line, sinker
by such depths before
no; best to go

i’m now the social officer for my poetry society at university. this is what I’ve written for the ‘buzzwords’ session tomorow. the word was ‘incognito’. hope you enjoy. i’m in a creative slump + i have exams at the moment so that’s whats affecting my poetic output and performance, i apologise
